Scuffs, Spills, and Stains

Growing up on a farm in Iowa did not present many opportunities for dressing up. But, I knew I was not born to wear Carhart coveralls or Wrangler jeans. I watched Scarlett O’Hara roam the fields of Tara in beautiful gowns and decided feeding my pony would be just as easy in ruffles. Instead of waiting for opportunities, I concluded every day was a “dress-up day.”

This presented some embarrassing problems: scuffs, spills, and stains on my beloved ruffles, lace, and patent leather. No matter how careful I was, I always managed to have a little wardrobe mishap in the barn. Rather than giving up my goal to feel pretty every day, I would head out for chores with a first aid fashion kit.

Not much has changed since then. I still wake up with a goal of feeling pretty and while I may have traded hay bales for concrete, those scuffs, spills, and stains still intrude. And my first aid fashion kit is always in tow.

As you head out this season for holiday gatherings, arm yourself with must have foundations and a kit packed with foolproof fix-its.
